Episode one Oh six of the marketing life podcast. This is Taylor Timothy, your host. Today guys, we’re gonna be talking about what I’ve learned from spending $60,000 on Google paid ads, also known as call and campaigns. So let’s always say more time guys and dive right in.
So guys, calling and campaigns can be very lucrative and they can be very expensive. But what I’ve found is there’s four tips I’m gonna share with you guys today that can help you save money on these campaigns and help you get the results that you’re looking for.
1. Be Specific With Your Keywords
So first one, be specific with your keywords. So obviously if you guys are being super broad with your keywords, you’re going to be wasting a ton of money, especially if you’re trying to run call new campaigns. So be very specific with your keywords in your keyword strategy.
2. Make Sure You Have Good Margins
The second thing I want to talk about is make sure you have good margins. So if your product is only $50, more than likely these call the campaigns aren’t going to be successful for you and you’re going to waste tons of money. Now if you are selling carpet cleaning, if you’re a plumber and your margins are a lot higher, you know plumbers might charge $500 for a project, maybe $2,000 for a project if you’re like finishing a basement. So if your margins are there, these colony campaigns can be super successful.
3. Be Specific With Your Targeting
The third thing is be specific with your targeting. So if you are a local business, make sure you’re targeting around your local business and not popping up over in California when your business is in Maine, why would you do that? So again, be very specific with your targeting and make sure you actually serve or your services can go to that specific targeted area.
4. Clickthrough Rate From 3% or Higher
The fourth thing is what I’ve found to shoot for a clickthrough rate anywhere from 3% or higher. If it’s below 3% either you need to increase your bids or you need to change out your ad copy. If you’re not hitting this 3% click through rate, more than likely you’re going to have a lot of fall off and you’re going to be wasting money on ads again because you’re not going to actually be getting phone calls coming in.
