Introduction to the Marketing Lyfe Podcast Ep. 117
Episode one 17 of the marketing I podcast. This is Taylor Timothy, your host. And today, guys, we’re gonna be talking about the new event tracking tool inside of Facebook. So Facebook recently rolled out this event, tracking testing type tool. I recently caught, maybe I’m a few months behind. I don’t know, but it helped me solve my problem. So I was having tracking issues. And so I went in, use this tool and solve my problem. So I want to just walk you guys through this, where to find it and how you guys, you go in there and mess around with it too. So let’s not waste any more time guys and dive right in.
Facebook Event Tracking Tool
So what you’re going to do is you’re going to go inside of Facebook. And what you’re going to do is you’re going to go inside of the event manager. So this is where you already have all your tracking set up, assuming you already have it set up and you’re going to see overview.
And then you’re going to have this thing called test events. So what’s cool about this test events is what you can do is you can actually put in the URL and you can make sure that all of the pixels are firing how you want them to. So I’m going to refresh here my page, and literally it will show that it’s receiving activity from the specific browser that you’re using. So what you can do is you can also go to like your thank you page or your checkout page or your purchase page.
And again, you can make sure that everything is tracking properly. So really cool tool. Obviously you can also use the Facebook pixel helper as well to see that those codes are firing. But in my opinion, it’s better to make sure that it’s actually firing and everything inside of the Facebook ads manager. That’s like, obviously the thing.
So another cool thing that I want to show you guys, or talk to you guys about what you can do that this helped me solve. My problem is for some reason, my standard event tracking wasn’t working. I don’t know why I don’t, I don’t know why it wasn’t working. I tried multiple different things to see if I could get it to work properly. And it wasn’t.
Launch the Event Set Up Tool
So under overview, what you can start to do now is you can go in here and add an event. So once you have, it’ll prompt you to put your code in there you say, Hey, I already have my thing.
And what you can do is you can launch this event, set up tool. So this is a really cool tool. You can basically launch it and you can put in your URL and you can go through your sales funnel and you can say, Hey, Facebook, when this goes to this page, count this as this.
Track Button Feature
You can also track buttons and you can track URLs. Um, from what I’ve seen is the track button feature doesn’t work as well. But definitely the track URL is definitely working. So you can say, Hey, when this URL comes in, then track this. And yes, you can go in there, set it up through the custom conversions type way. But I don’t know why. I just figured this, this tool worked and it solved my problem.
Making Your Tracking Better for Facebook
Like I said, so if you guys are having issues with tracking or anything like that, go try out this new tool, um, that Facebook has built for us that helps us set up our tracking that much better. So like I said, all of this is under the events manager under pixel. If you want to create new tracking processes, use the add event. And then if you want to test out your URLs and things like that do test events, and that will show you everything that you guys need to know.
