Introduction to the Marketing Lyfe Podcast Ep. 127
Episode one 27 of the marketing life podcast. This is Tara Timothy, your host. And today guys, we’re going to be comparing lead ads versus conversion. So in this episode, I’ll explain a little bit what the difference is and dive into the pros and cons. Let’s not waste any more time dive. Right?
Whats the Difference?
So guys lead ads versus conversion ads, just so we understand a little bit, what’s the difference?
What is a Lead Ad?
So lead ads is basically a form builder inside of Facebook. So if, as the person scrolling through their feed, they click on it and a form actually pops up inside of Facebook where they can fill out their information to collect an offer. Now that is a lead ad.
What is a Conversion Ad?
Now conversion ads are basically a different objective inside of Facebook, but what happens there is that usually they click on the link and they go to a website, fill out a form, and that’s how you track the conversion there. So a lot of times with lead ads, what you have to do is you have to use a tool called Zapier to put that information into a spreadsheet that, or, uh, you could connect it with a Zapier to send it to your CRM as well.
Whereas with your website as well, usually it just goes straight into your CRM. So that’s just kind of some of the differences between lead ads and conversion ads.
They’re just objectives there.
Easy to put up
So some of the pros to like lead ads, what I find is they’re really easy to put up. If you don’t have a website, you can actually just create them and collect information there.
No Need for Website Landing Page
And you do all you need is a Facebook page. So this can be like really fast to get things up and running versus like conversion ads. You actually have to have a website landing page or click funnels or something where you’re actually driving that traffic.
I’m also what I found is sometimes with lead ads, your cost is a little bit lower than with conversion based ads.
Lower Quality Ads
Why that is, I don’t know. I have yet to find out, but I have found that usually the quality of leads from conversion ads is higher than the lead ads.
So that’s some of the things that you need to take into consideration there. Maybe you can take a higher volume of leads coming in forth your lead ads, but your conversion ads, you’re going to get a higher quality of leads.
So what I’ve also found with conversion ads, one of the things I love about them is you can actually send them through more of like a sells funnel. You can deliver them more information, um, and prequalify them a lot faster than with lead ads. A lead ad is usually just like name, email, phone number. You ask a few questions, but they don’t really ever get to see your business.
You Need a Website
They don’t go to your website and things like that. So sometimes I think there’s a disconnect there. Um, and that is just my own personal and some of the information that I have found with lead ads and conversion ads.
Set up is Longer
So something else though, with conversion as the after realize there’s a lot of times conversion as the setup is a lot longer. So you have to build out your website, you need to install the pixel, you need to set up your tracking. And then from there you go in and set up your ads and things like that. So the funnel process is a lot longer to build out, but I mean, if you’re a new company and you’re just starting up and you don’t have a web guy, you don’t have a marketing guy, you could easily set up some lead ads really fast and can start testing things.
Sometimes you can. I’ve heard of a lot of people just going out there and testing lead ads with their offers instead of building out an entire sales funnel and just testing the offer just to see if they get things coming in. So take that to note as well. Um, some things that you guys can do there. So I’m going to keep on testing this and give you guys some more information later down the road. I’ll follow up with this episode of more tests that I’ve ran lead ads versus conversion ads.
