Episode 85 of the marketing life podcast. This is Taylor Timothy, your host. And today guys, we’re gonna be talking about what do you do if your ads stop performing? So we’re gonna be talking about all that platforms. I run ads onto Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Google cross the board. What you actually need to do to get those pads running.
Finding A New Audience
So the first thing I want to talk about is just go out there and find a new audience. So Facebook, Instagram, you might need to just go out and target a completely new audience. Changing out States, changing out demographics such as genders, ages, interests, different things like that.
You might need to just go out there and just create a completely new audience and run it again. Now for Google, when I talk about finding a new audience, you might just need to narrow down your audience. Maybe your ads are actually performing, but they’re not getting the quality of leads you’re looking for. You might need to go in there and just add some negative keywords. Maybe it adjusts some bids on different States and eliminate certain demographics to hold in your new audience. Okay.
Creating New Copies
The next thing I want to talk about is creating new copies. So maybe your creatives, great. You might just need to go in there and change out a headlines and body techs over on Facebook and Instagram. Same goes for Google. You might need to just go in there and rewrite your ads and see if you’re going to get higher click through rates. So just going out there and creating new copy can be a huge thing just to get your ads performing better.
Creating New Ideas
The next thing I want to talk about is the creative side of things. So we’re talking like videos and images over on Instagram. Sometimes you might need to just go out there and create new creatives such as images and videos, uh, things like that. It goes the same for YouTube.
So if you’re running YouTube ads, you might need to go in there and create a new YouTube video to get your ads performing. Again, especially over on Facebook, like if your ad deliveries, getting above a four people have seen your ad multiple times and it’s time to probably switch out the new creative new copy and all of the above. The truth be told.
Creating A New Offer
The next thing I want to talk about is creating a new offer. So going to creating an offer, you might need to create new offers for Facebook and Instagram. So if you’re running an ad that says get your free guide free checklist, you might need to start offering a free video series. So you might have to completely create a new offer to get your ads performing.
Again, unfortunately that’s the game of online marketing. So as far as the create a new offer goes as well, it might have to, you might have to apply that over on Google paid ads as well. Like, maybe you need to switch out the deal from $99 to $79 this month just to see what happens to your click through rates and how your ads start performing. So take that into consideration. Creating a new offer.
Adjusting Your Bids
The fifth thing I want to talk about is just for Google talk only. So Google paid ads, uh, as far as you might have to increase your bids if your ad stop performing. So let’s say you start one month, you’re running ads and you’re holding a high position, you’re in the one to two position area.
I know that metric went away. So it’s like the 80%, the 70% position if you, maybe this week because everyone else increased their bids, you drop down to like 40 or 50. So if that’s the case, you’re going to have to go in there and increase your bids on your keywords or your locations or whatever, however you have your campaign set up to fight back for those positions to get your ads performing again. So, like I said, this is like Google only talk, but you might have to go in there and adjust your bids.
Keep Going And Never Give Up
The sixth and final thing I want to talk about guys, you guys have heard me say this a lot, the online marketing, you just have to keep trying guys.
Um, I’ve had campaigns that had performed for a really long time and didn’t have to really touch them. And I’ve had campaigns that you’re constantly making changes just to keep them performing over and over and over again. So there’s a lot of variables that go into it. You know, a lot of times if you have, if you’re targeting like the United States, your ad campaigns can run longer. If you’re in like a geotargeted area, a lot of times your ads are going to start performing a lot faster.
So that’s just the truth though guys. You gotta just keep going. You gotta keep trying and I promise you you will succeed. That’s how online marketing goes. You fail, you try again and you succeed at some point. It’s just, I promise I failed multiple times in my career. If an online marketer says he’s never felled, then I have a hard time believing that.
